    Program Description:

Effective investigations involve more than just asking a few questions and making a few notes.  This program will identify legal challenges (e.g., EEO, and NLRA) and practical problems associated with conducting workplace investigations and ensuring that appropriate actions are taken to protect your organizations from legal liability.  This program is designed to be interactive so please bring your forms and procedures and come prepared to discuss your investigation practices and techniques.  Learning objectives include:

    1. Legal Requirements for Effective Investigations
    2. How to Develop an Investigation Plan for Every Case
    3. Training Investigators to Get Information
    4. Following-through on Plans, Investigations and Post-Investigation Issues

Bring your current forms for review!

    Presenter Information:

     Kim Seten, Attorney,

Kimberly F. Seten, a managing partner with Constangy, focuses her practice on helping employers proactively address workplace manners.  Whether assisting in the development of workplace policies, investigation procedures and training materials, preparing employee handbooks and procedure manuals, conducting training for management, supervisors, and employees on workplace conduct, or advising on problem employees, Kim believes that the best way to minimize litigation in the workplace is to address issues before they become problems.  When litigation arises, however, Kim represents clients before federal and state agencies as well as in the state and federal courts of Missouri and Kansas.  Kim also works with employers to develop strategies for addressing union issues, including running union avoidance campaigns, negotiating collective bargaining agreements, administering labor contracts, and representing employers in unfair labor practice charges.

Recognized as a SuperLawyer in 2013 and a Rising Star in 2011 and 2012, Kim is a frequent presenter throughout the United States.  In 2014, Client Choice selected Kim as the best Employment & Labor lawyer in Kansas.  She is a contributing author of How To Take A Case Before The NLRB (2008) and has published articles in numerous newspapers and trade publications around the country.  Kim recently served as the Chair of the prestigious Heartland Labor and Employment Institute.

Kim received a BS from the University of Illinois and graduated cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law.
