Program Description:
As the doctrine of “at will” employment has eroded over the years, it has become more of a challenge to manage employees. What if the employee is a bully or otherwise toxic (high-performing, low congeniality)? What if the employee is loyal but hasn’t grown in the job (long-tenured with antiquated skills)? How about employees who have protected status or exercise a protected right? What do you do about supervisors and subordinates who have personality conflicts or generational differences? This session will provide tips on how to effectively manage challenging employee situations.
Presenter Information:
Denise M. Portnoy,

She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and as a SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRMSCP), the preeminent nationally recognized credentials for those who have mastered the strategic and policymaking aspects of Human Resources management in the United States.
Denise focuses on managementside labor relations and proceedings before state and federal agencies. Under the National Labor Relations Act and Railway Labor Act, Denise defends employers against unions in representation elections, unfair labor practice charges, and grievances before the National Labor Relations Board, National Mediation Board, National Railroad Adjustment Board, and the Federal Judiciary, as well as in arbitration proceedings.
