Program Description:
How to Become a Employer of Choice Not Chance
In a marketplace laden with talent, how do you create a place candidates want to work? Is it practical to think candidates might seek you out? Is it possible to become an employer of choice, not chance? These questions will be addressed and answered as attendees will:
- Discover research-based practices for motivating employees
- Identify six characteristics of organizations where people want to work
- Untangle the secrets of engaging employees
Presenter Information:
John Thomas, Chief People Officer - Dept. of Health & Senior Services
John Thomas has been addressing audiences in an inspiring and engaging manner for more than 25 years. John is an experienced HR leader with a demonstrated history of working in government administration, higher education and the healthcare industry. He is well versed in leadership development, presentation development and delivery, team building, executive coaching, and teamwork. He currently serves as the Chief People Officer for the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
Prior to that, John worked as a Human Resources Consultant for the University of Missouri System in Columbia, MO. Additionally, he works as an independent consultant, working with organizations on issues of employee engagement, morale, organizational climate and culture, leadership coaching and professional development opportunities. From 2005-2013 John served as an assistant football coach at Truman State University.
John is a dedicated human resources professional with a Master of Arts focused in Organizational Leadership. Regardless of the audience, his goal is to enrich, encourage, and elevate the lives of every individual with whom he interacts.
